Our story
Three generations
of Swiss craft.
For over 80 years and across three generations, the Abderhalden family has been building gardens in Toggenburg — the alpine valley where eastern Switzerland meets the Säntis massif. The family business — Abderhalden Gartenbau AG — has always worked with land, water, and stone.
In 1996, Jürg Abderhalden built something different. A pool that filtered itself, using natural microorganisms instead of chemicals. The first prototype worked. The next 15 years were refinement — quietly, in the back of the family business, often in collaboration with researchers at ZHAW and the ASC.
In 2011, the brand launched as eco-pool at Giardina, Switzerland's largest garden exhibition. Today the third generation continues the work, with a small network of selected partners bringing natural pools to gardens, terraces, and hotels across Switzerland.

Jürg Abderhalden builds the first eco-pool prototype: a private pool that filters itself using natural microorganisms instead of chemicals.
eco-pool launches as an independent brand at Giardina, Switzerland's largest garden exhibition.
The S1-Filter is introduced — an autonomous biological filter system that becomes the standard for medium and large pools.
Construction of the first Biomeersalz-Pool — eco-pool's saltwater filtration system. The natural sea-salt water offers a silkier, more skin-friendly bathing experience year-round.
The partner system is formalized. Selected garden construction partners join the network, beginning structured expansion across Switzerland.
The compact Badebrunnen line is introduced — bringing eco-pool technology to small gardens, terraces, and urban outdoor spaces, delivered and installed in days.
